Ofcom have recently announced new rules and guidance for identifying and blocking "spoof" calls.
We wanted to provide you with an update on the changes we'll subsequently be making to the BCH network.
What is changing? The new guidance (https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0021/247503/CLI-guidance-annex.pdf) for Calling Line Identification call data intends to reduce fraud and spam calling. BCH Digital, along with the rest of the industry, will be following this guidance. This will involve making network changes to implement additional screening of calls entering the BCH network.
What calls will this impact? Traffic with CLI data that is invalid, does not uniquely identify the caller, or does not contain a telephone number that is dialable will be blocked with a 603 Decline SIP message response.
When will the changes be made? These changes will be made by the 30th June 2023.
